by Camp Ramah in Northern California
We are excited to announce that the Ramah Sports Academy will be included as a new speciality track option at Camp Ramah Galim in Northern California this summer. After five years of operations in Connecticut and Pennsylvania, Ramah Sports Academy (RSA) is moving west! Not only will this change give athletes access to our breathtaking campus on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, RSA campers will be part of a vibrant summer community – joining with over 180 Ramah campers each session for social, recreational, and religious programming outside of their sports majors.
Ramah Galim, founded in 2016 as the second Ramah specialty camp, offers 2-, 4- and 6-week specialty camp options in Ocean Exploration (including surfing and scuba diving), Theater Arts, and Adventure Sports.
New this summer, campers at Ramah Galim can choose to participate in RSA programming, majoring in basketball or soccer, with electives available in baseball, tennis, swimming, surfing, and much more. The excellence in sports instruction that has characterized RSA from the onset will continue, with outstanding coaches and now with a cooler and drier climate, ideal for athletic training.
Although RSA had planned to re-open this summer at the NYMA high school campus in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, Ramah Galim hosting RSA will provide the critical mass necessary for the high-quality Ramah experience that our campers and families are expecting.
By incorporating RSA into Ramah Galim, RSA campers will benefit from outstanding dorms and recreational facilities that are used exclusively by Ramah. This thriving Ramah community of campers, with over 75 staff members including senior educators and administrators specializing in camper care, operates under the direction of veteran Camp Director Geoff Menkowitz.
We are thrilled that RSA Assistant Director Alex Rubin will continue to lead the RSA program, bringing coaching staff and many of the best practices from RSA to Ramah Galim.
