Kayitz 2022- Four Week Specialty Intensives!

Bike Intensive- Build your bike skills from the foundation up. Each skill builds on the last. You will have covered all the skills you need to tackle many kinds of trails. Intermediate riders can expect to cover the foundational skills quickly and move onto technical riding, fast cornering, tight cornering, pumping, drops and dynamic riding. Beginners can expect to thoroughly learn the foundational skills and be introduced to intermediate skills. You will ride away from this intensive ready to ride a wider variety of terrain with more speed and efficiency, no matter where you started!

Dance Intensive– In our dance Intensive, campers will spend their time developing techniques, creating dances and performing for our larger camp community. With a focus on developing our campers’ talent, an appreciation for dance and helping every camper reach their own personal potential, we will focus on a blend of dance styles that may include aspects from Modern, Contemporary/Lyrical, ballet, jazz, and Hip Hop

Videography Intensive– Campers engage in hands-on experiences as they learn the basics of filmmaking: pre-production, production, and post-production. They develop skills in planning, organization, script writing, interpersonal communication, team building, and media literacy. Campers participate in every aspect of video production, from editing to directing on-screen talent.

Scuba Intensive – Campers in the 4 week scuba intensive will gain a deep appreciation for the wonders of life beneath the surface as they learn how to scuba dive and have the opportunity to become certified as open water divers. Scuba instruction will take place in our camp pool before campers venture out into Monterey Bay with our Dive Instructors and Dive Masters for an open water scuba experience.  Campers will leave with knowledge of scuba safety, equipment, and diving skills as well as an introduction to marine life and conservation through a Jewish lens.

The Open Water scuba Intensive consists of three main phases:

  • Knowledge Development (both pre-summer independent study and summer classroom learning sessions) to understand basic principles of scuba diving
  • Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills in our pool
  • Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore the ocean

Adventure Diver Scuba Intensive – If you are already a certified open water scuba diver, then this intensive is designed to enhance your skills and provide new experiences along the way.  After a refresher course in our pool, and knowledge development in the classroom, participants take to the ocean with a variety of scuba experiences including Night Diving, Underwater Navigation, Boat Diving, Fish Identification, and Underwater Naturalist specialties.

The Adventure Diver Scuba Intensive consists of three main phases:

  • Scuba Skill Refresher to review open water diver skills in our pool
  • Knowledge Development (summer classroom learning sessions) to learn specialty skills necessary for the various adventure experiences participants will take part in during the intensive
  • Open Water Dives with a focus towards some of our offered specialties (Night Diving, Underwater Navigation, Boat Diving, Fish Identification, and Underwater Naturalist)

Surfing Intensive – Want to be a surfer?  Under the guidance of our expert surf instructors, campers in the 4 week surfing intensive will develop their surfing skills both at camp’s beach as well as at famous surf spots all around northern California.  Campers will learn advance surfing techniques  and develop leadership skills that stem from surfing and Jewish textual connections.

Horseback Riding Intensive – Spend 4 weeks of your summer in Etgar with a focus on Horseback Riding. Go beyond the basics of riding in a variety of settings. Learn horsemanship skills, develop sound riding techniques, and try your hand at vaulting in addition to a more traditional trail riding experience.
