COVID-19 Update #2- March 10, 2020

Hi Ramah Families,

We wanted to update our camper families with regards to the health and safety of our camp community. We continue to closely monitor developments surrounding the COVID-19 situation in partnership with our medical director and the larger Ramah community. We will follow any protocol that our medical director, the CDC, and our local health department recommends. Camp Ramah in Northern California, together with our partners in the summer camp industry, is currently planning to operate fully this summer.

While we will provide additional updates and plans in the weeks to come, please read below the timely information about insurance to protect your investment and Camp Ramah in Northern California.

TRAVEL INSURANCE
In light of the current COVID-19 situation, we strongly encourage all camp families to purchase “Cancel For Any Reason” insurance this year. Health outbreaks are typically excluded from coverage on standard policies. Our insurance partner is offering a policy at this link: https://programprotector.mhross.com/consumer/portal/RAMA0969CA. Be sure to select “Cancel For Any Reason”* policy. Please be sure to review the policy for applicability in your area.

Per the insurance company:

We recommend a Cancel For Any Reason policy. Standard Trip Cancellation policies do not cover the outbreak, as it is a known event. Like some other provisions and benefits, Cancel For Any Reason is time sensitive and must be purchased with or before the final payment for the Program. Remember, unlike covered reasons such as sickness or injury, you do not receive reimbursement for your entire cancellation penalty amount.

Note that this policy must be acquired before you make your final payment for camp.
An additional administrative fee of $50 will be assessed to each camper family to help offset related expenses of COVID-19. This fee will be automatically added to your invoice and final payments are due by June 1, 2020.

The cancellation policy provided at the time of your application will remain in effect.

If the cost of purchasing insurance is prohibitive for your family, or if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our camp office at info@ramahnorcal.org or 415-688-4572.

Finally, it is my pleasure to share that yesterday we had the opportunity to gather on a conference call with our incredible summer staff team.  The excitement for camp and meeting all our campers was tremendous, and I wish to share their energy and passion with you.

Purim Sameach,
Rabbi Sarah Shulman
